Rugby World Cup in Canada on TV?

Question

Ok so I've heard about Setanta, but does it also mean I need to purchase a set top box for it? I currently have shaw cable. I really REALLY want to watch the cup games live on TV.

Please help me. I'm a kiwi here in Vancouver and not sure what to do! I signed up for Setanta braodband but they said they arent showing the games! Rather frustrating!

Dude, I am a Kiwi on the east coast in NS and I have some bad new for you.  Setanta's coverage sucks the big one.  Supposedly Broadband was the way to go rather than the in house version I have.  Go to the North America TV schedule on their site and you'll see that most games are insanely delayed.  The first NZ game for example is delayed 30 hours!!!

I sent a hugely expletive filled e-mail to Setanta and surprisingly got a reply.  It turns out, paying for the channel in home is not good enough, you need to pay for the PPV as well to get the other games live (insane $$$) or you have to watch Setanta Premium.... the catch???  Premium is only available to bars and businesses so you will have to drag your butt to a bar at 7am.... about 3-4am your time.

My next door neighbour has this illegal black box that gets all the satellite channels for free... even PPV so I already cancelled my Setanta subscription and wormed my way into his place every morning for a two months.  Supposedly you can get them (black box) in Toronto for about $200, but I can't be bothered.

What a rip off system Setanta has... thank goodness I am going home before 2011!!!

You can also get 24 hour delayed coverage of every game through www.mediazone.com.

I am a Kiwi living in Vancouver too and I watch all my rugby thru that (including the NPC). Cost me US $100 for a year and I think its another US $40 for the world cup.

Or the frog and firken (on west broadway) is showing games.
