  1. I dont really think the idea of getting angry before a game is right. I think maybe what is more important is what you need to be doing. If you're a halfback or forward it is getting to that breakdown and securing the ball EVERY SINGLE TIME! Pillar and post aswell. Backs need to get in position and make sure you communicate well with the halfback! (If all backs are doing their jobs and they are confident then the right stuff should come naturally with practise).

Just remember to think things over and get into a positive spin.

  2. I think you have the right idea when you say controlled aggression. I don't think you should be doing anything to 'psych' yourself up. You might feel that you play better when you are angry but that may not be the case in reality. As long as you aren't pussying out of tackles or taking hits then you should never get angry on the rugby field. That is how accidents happen and fights start.

  3. Think angry thoughts. Try and imagine the other team beating you 50-0. Try and imagine the referee cheating you. Try and imagine how you get punched and the ref does nothing, but when you do a fair tackle he gives a penalty against you.

When you start to play and you have to make your first tackle then try and take the guy out. Legally of course. Tackle so hard that next time he will think twice. Try and play the opposition of the field from the first minute.

    That gets me psyched up.

  4. you could try to think of bad things that have happened in your life or the other team making out with  your girlfriend or someone that you really care about.
