  1. BBC Sport website..............

Sounds like you've gone out on a limb & given the impression you're a rugby supporter? "Old school tie" & all that stuff??

One of the answers above me states that rugby is a relatively simple game to understand - what a load of cr@p!!! Take the scrum for example, I know guys that have played all their lives who still don't understand what's going on up front(all backs of course). Most refs don't have a clue either in my opinion!!!

Sorry to say it but your work colleagues will see right through you (if they are true rugby fans themselves). You can't profess to know all about rugby after simply reading about it. Best to keep your mouth shut I think ;-)

  2. this is a really simple, and kind of funny description of rugby.  there are some diagrams- but for the most part- its all in common language with descriptions of lingo/ rugby jargon.  Its made for rookies that know nothing about rugby.  I would also say watching rugby with a rugger that can explain it well would be very helpful, but the easiest way to learn is by playing!  :-)  We always say that, "explaining rugby is like describing s*x to a virgin."  its hard to understand, so good luck and hope this helps

..... and the usarugby.org site was a spectators guide- i just found that last night when i was looking for stuff for my new rookies.  it doesnt give the full address when you click on it but go to www.usarugby.org and then in the top left corner click "fans" and look at the menu on the top of that next screen- it says "spectator's guide to the game"

  3. Hi there

The game is a relatively simple game to understand. It all depends the depth that you want to go into in but if you would like to learn the basics of the game like the phrases used in the game then website 1 and 3. Is your choice. If you want to learn in more depth about the sport website like the history of it 2 is the place for you.

  4. I think that the BBC Sport website gives some of the simplest to understand info about rugby. This is a link to the rules and equipment part of the site - i used it to do exactly what you are doing so it should help.(http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/low/rugby_u...

You can take it further by visiting http://rugby365.com or you can find a good book in most libraries about the basics of the game. The best way to learn is to watch a game on tv though. This will give you an idea of how the rules and concepts of rugby are applied.

    Hope this has helped.

  5. i dont know of any great websites for learning the basics or furthering your knowledge of rugby but you could go to a book shop or order off the internet a book called "Rugby for dummies"
