  1. An effective tackle comes from an understanding of the movement of the other player, not from hitting them hard. You could run at someone as fast as possible, hit them in the right place etc, but if you don't use their weight and momentum against them you will just bounce off!! When moving in for a tackle, always watch the other player's hips as this is their centre of gravity - they can try to dodge but if you follow their hips you will be able to see where their weight is. Get really low, as this will affect their balance - you need to pull their legs together as a wide base will help them to stay on their feet. The rest of the movement depends on the direction you are tackling from. In an ideal situation you are in position before moving towards the opposition in a flat line, meaning that you are running at their front; in this scenario, you ideally want to pull them over your shoulder (the one you move into the tackle with). This puts them in an awkward position making it difficult to present the ball to their own team. However if you are not aligned quite right, and end up chasing the player either from the side or back, the way to get them down is to ensure that you bind on really tightly and keep driving through - you basically want to run them into the floor with you on top. ALWAYS make sure you wait until the player is on the floor and then roll away as quickly as possible to avoid giving a penalty.

  2. For a start you can lose your stupid attitude.  Keep that up and you're going to miss tackles, then you'll look stupid.

Instead of going all out to kill someone you need to make sure you give your team a chance to turn the ball over. As has been said you need to take the tackle slower to give your forwards the chance to support. Also try and turn the guy you're tacklig towards your players, when he releases the ball it's going to be in your advantage. if he doesn't you've won a penalty.

  3. flanker is a position where you have loads of qualities from backs and forwards eg. you have to be fast, an aggressive tackler, really strong... i think that the most important quality to have (other than being able to tackle, is being able to be quick! YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE FITNESS! do this by doing loads of short sprints (not long jogs)

  4. You seem to think the game is all about 'taking people out', or 'wiping someone out'.  You should be playing NFL, they have a role for such people.

  5. Bro. your playing the wrong game if you think rugby is about tackling and taking people out. Rugby is a contact sport like no other sport out there. You have to have stamina , usually light on you feet if you play loosie or back , strong and durable body muscle . You have to think on your feet because you have to be aware of what's going on and what your position is supposed to be doing and  where you should be at. It's a demanding game because things and situations  can change in a blink of an eye . If you don't adjust to the flow of the game you'll get left behind and embarras youself Lol!!!!! Don't go into a game looking for a good looking hit on somebody because unlike american football, rugby is not about the great hits, it's about turning over your opponent's ball and if it came via a great hit then it's the icing on the cake. Ofcourse you can hurt yourself as experienced players can take you out even if your doing the tackling. It's the best game in the world .

  6. Are you like eight years old or maybe having your ninth birthday this year ?

Tackling is about turning the ball over. Keeping the tackled player on their feet, and preventing the ruck from forming while holding the tackled player stationary with the help of your other loose forwards for about 5 seconds will guarantee a turn over.

Team work and tackling smart, wins games, not "taking people out" - as most eight year olds assume.
