But then, as a New Zealander I would say that, even though it's our league team that are the current World Cup holders.

Rugby union is more of a thinking man or womans game.  It's a lot more technical than league and seems to flow a lot better.  Union is much harder but more enjoyable to play than league.  As they say, league is a thugs game played by thugs, where as union is a thugs game played by gentlemen.
