Rugby news: Adrian Morley takes the captain crown for Four Nations series
The 33-year-old Briton Adrian Morley has been named as the England’s skipper for the Four Nations rugby series to be played in Australia and New Zealand, which will be started later this month.
Adrian Morley has usurped the captaincy from the wounded ace prop of Leeds Rhinos Jamie Peacock. The other key players for the English squad to play for the Four Nations series are Leroy Cudjoe, Darrell Griffin, and Stuart Fielden.
It is to be noticed that the 33-year-old English ace Adrian Morley is considered as one of the world’s best forward players and is also known for his high profile and value in the rugby world. The prop’s record move of £450,000 from Bradford has earned him
the label of rugby’s most expensive players as well.
Morley is currently enjoying the best playing form this season and has joined the veteran teammates Sam Tomkins and Joel Tomkins. On the other hand, his selected partner for the Four Nations event Luke Robinson has usurped the place of out of form Richie
Myler.
It is also to be remembered that the English Rugby team has been lacking the players because of injury issues. The veteran prop Jamie Peacock, Kevin Sinfield and Danny McGuire are unable to join the English squad for tour to Australia and New Zealand because
of the injury issues. Kevin Sinfield is still suffering from the Achilles injury problem and it is reported that it will take him some time to recover. To overcome the shortage of players, the selection committee has to make some major changes in the squad.
It is also to be notified that Kyle Eastmond and Chris Bridge will also be absent from the playing squad because of their personal issues.
Despite of the apparently crumbled English squad for the Four Nations event, the English team coach Steve McNamara seemed much confident about the English team. When the head coach was asked about the new selected skipper of English rugby team, McNamara
expressed himself by saying that Morley is the best option for the English team to be selected as a captain. He added that choosing Adrian as a captain for the team was not at all difficult for them as Adrian’s capacity and experience cannot be challenged.
Adrian Morley is considered as one of the best forward players in the world of Rugby and his fan following around the world is huge. While questioned about Morley’s fame, head coach expressed himself by saying that Adrian is no doubt a star and a performer
for the team. He added that the squad will miss the importance of Jamie Peacock but he is quite sure that Adrian will play his part to his best and will make the England proud. Later McNamara added that Morley is a great player, and he is very eager to perform
for his national team as he is still enjoying the best playing form.
The ace prop Morley is announced as the captain of the team for the second time. No doubt it is a wonderful time of his career. When the 33-year-old was asked about his feelings after been announced as the captain of the UK and English team, the prop said
that it is the best time of his career and he is feeling very lucky about it. He added that managing the Four Nations tour squad as a captain is no less than an honour for him.
The selection of Adrian Morley as the team leader of the English team for the tour of Australia and New Zealand is probably the best possible decision, as the prop has got all the skills and talent to lead the national squad. His performance in the Four
Nations series will further determine his rule in the English National Rugby team.
