  1. Rugby...football is fast becoming a non-contact game like basketball.I don't reckon the best teams today would have been able to cope with the rules of the 50s/60s and 70s.You only have to touch some players and they're rolling around in agony.

  2. Football, because I play it and I think it is more exciting to watch.

  3. Football played according to the rules of the school of Rugby.

Why? No speculation with the score...unless you are 125 to 0. It is just an awesome game.  Rugby is a brute game played by gentlemen while Football is a fine game played by brutes.

  4. Rugby, you don't get the same type of tension at the grounds as you do with football, and now that some of these footie players are paid in a week,  what doctors get paid  in a year i fear the true spirit of the game has gone.

  5. Rugby for me. I find it more interesting and less boring. This is probably heavily influenced from growing up and living in New Zealand as well where everything is rugby and Soccer is virtually a minority sport.

  6. Why RUGBY of course!

Out of many reasons, for me the most compelling is that if you rolled around on the pitch faking an injury in Rugby you would not only be laughed at you would wake up the next morning with cleat marks all over your body.

I just hate it when 'professional' athletes fake injury to get an advantage over their opponents.

  7. I don't choose between sports I like.

I get very bored watching football after I've been watching rugby. But then I get back into it and realise that the tension is constant with greater highs.

I would watch a rugby match between teams I don't care about, I have never lasted more than 15mins doing this with football.

But then again I've never cried watching an England rugby highlights, unlike the tears I get watching 3 Lions on YouTube.

But that Rugby WC was greater satisfaction even though it was expected.

    Different times, different feelings.

  8. Football

    Rugby is like the WWE

The referee has to tell professionals what to do.

Basically coach them while they are playing.

    Let me Quote.

    "..Let it go White.."

    "...No hands..."

"...Guys please do not close the gap.." (in the line-outs)

    "...crouch! touch! hold! engage!.."

The referee is just too much he sticks out like a sore thumb.

The referee in professional sport is not suppose to be the director, he is suppose to be in the back ground and then pop up when we need to refer something

  9. I prefer rugby as it's a far more physical game which means that generally there's a lot more to watch. In football, I find often that it's harder to get involved in a game unless it's (a) really fast paced, or (b) a goal fest. I also get annoyed with the players' abilities to be knocked down with a feather.

Also, I think that the respect the players have for the referees should be an example to football - what the ref says goes, and NO-ONE backchats. Backchatting results in a 10 minute sin bin, so players don't do it. In football, it is becoming more and more common to see payers ganging up on and intimidating refs, often into making bad decisions.

  10. rugby. much more sporting and the men are to die for

  11. Football

  12. Footy

  13. Rugby Union

  14. Definately Rugby it's more exciting than Football and you're allowed to tackle and not get pulled for it.

I can watch a whole game of rugby but only the highlights for football.

  15. Rugby, I think its more complete. I like football too, although im always saying it sucks to p**s off a friend of mine ;).

  16. Rugby!

  17. wow thats an easy one, the beautiful game of course FOOTBALL

  18. football just cause the money involved in the game takes it to a higher standard than rugby but both great games

  19. I prefer rugby because it is a more action packed sport.

  20. rugby-although the players arent paid as much as football players, they should be-its gotta be hard to run around for 80 minutes, getting thrown to the ground countless times.the players have better bodies too...not that i go to the games for the legs and arses though...

  21. I have more respect for rugby players, both in terms of the physical aspect they have to endure and also the generally better demeanour they exhibit.

But footy is the best game! Shame the powers that be don't crack down on the nutters on and off the pitch...

  22. Rugby!  More variety and entertainment in the game!

More than just kicking a ball back and for!

  23. Snooker. A game for people with skill, not girly haircuts.

  24. Rugby football or association football?

Rugby is, of course, the more masterly sport.  But then football has its uses - what else would the Dorises do when the real men are playing rugby?

Can anyone tell me why most pro association footballers are so precious? I'm thinking Drogba, Ronaldo and almost every Italian.  Whatever happened to the hard men of football - Stiles, Hunter, Beckenbauer etc.  Bet they'd have been good in the ruck.

  25. Rugby - the legs are fab! (Sorry)

  26. football it kicks ***

  27. Rugby. There is alot more contact and alot more rules to remember. As a person who has played both soccer and currently is playing rugby,  rugby is alot harder amd way more intense.

  28. check out the Gaelic game (football) it is totally awesome and fhe fun is great!!(IRELAND)
