  1. i'd go for prop - it's important in a good team to have a prop who is fit and who can get around the park.  You sound to me like a Dimitri Szarzewski, who plays prop for Stade Francais and France.  If you have good hands, then also consider being a centre/wing - it's important to have a centre who can take a crash ball, and there have been precedents for bulky wingers too (c.f. Lesley Vainikolo who plays for Gloucester and England).

  2. Eight man.

  3. Prop. I have seen a prop who could run at the collegiate level, and that is NEVER a bad thing. At the VERY least you will be a forward.

*Tackling in football is diff than in rugby. The difference is one of the two or three biggest reasons there are more spine injuries in men's rugby in America than elsewhere in the world. The adjustment isn't hard though, just pay attention when they are coaching tackling.

In rugby, since there is no substantial padding, you have to drive lower and not "thru the numbers."

  4. Try Prop. You should have the size and strength to be decisive at the scrum. Don't underestimate the difference between Football and Rugby though, changing from one code of Rugby to another can be tough enough. Get good coaching, an they will know where to deploy you best. If you have good enough pace/mobility, I'd not want to face a 255 flanker!!!

  5. hooker! you hang on the shoulders of the number 8 and the biggest players during a scrum and you hook the ball backwards

  6. Definitely a prop or lock. I'm a scrum half and need big guys like you in the pack. If your a good runner maybe they could try you at 8 man.

  7. well, everyone is saying prop...but depending on your team, you may be too tall for it!

personally i hate tall props, for a shorter hooker its a nightmare to have one tall and one average prop!

i think you would be better at, and prefer number 8 for several reasons

-front row(ie prop, hooker, prop) is a dangerous position and requires a reasonable amount of scrummaging practice before you can play prop in a real scrum in a match, 'till then its uncontested!

-number 8's get a lot more runs since they can call a pick on a scrum

-8's get to show off! if you pick in a match, you will crash a scrumhalf or a flanker(ie a small guy) so you will look like a pro lol!

-you will utilize your running skills and fitness more than you would at prop

  8. prop all the way, im a prop and im 6'2, 240. u should probably be a loose head, so in the scrum when the opposition has the ball u can wheel it 90 degrees and its a turnover.
