  1. You say 5th is not fair but then i ask you who to take out of the top 4? Certainly I think Ireland are contenders but we must agree it will be a shock if they do win it. The competition between 2,3,4, and Ireland at number 5 is quite good. There is not a lot between them.

On paper, New Zealand should win it easily or maybe the Bokke. But the All Blacks have been the best for a long time yet they choked out at crucial stages. The South Africans did not look convincing enough against the Aussies this weekend but there is still a long time to get everything right.

Ireland have a lot of expierence and that counts in a world cup. But I have been saying since last year when they beat South Africa they will be the team to watch at the World Cup this year. If anybody underestimates them they can cause an upset.

  2. No, not at all. 5th or 6th is about right.

Ireland are the most over rated team since Wales won the 2005 Grand Slam.

  3. Man if I was a coach fo the irish team, i would be stoked that they are ranked 5th.

  4. Dont forget how many injuries, SA team had, we had to put a team together from scratch, watch in tri nations, ireland will get humiliated 77-0. And little stringer s gonna end up on a stretcher.

  5. Ireland will be in a group pool with France and Argentina. Argentina have beaten both countries in the past year, so Ireland are by no means a certainty to get to the quarters (where they may meet the ABs whom they have never beaten). They lack the depth of say the ABs or Sth Africa, for example if O Driscoll and O'Connell are both injured in the early stages of the tournament, I don't see adequate replacements for them. Plus their 6 Nations form was patchy at best, they were warm favourites at the start but did not play to those expectations. They'd be better off as underdogs.
