Rugby update, Adam Jones refuses the rumors of leaving Ospreys
Ospreys and Welsh prop, Adam Jones, has refused the all rumors about him chaning the club at the end of next year’s season, when his current contract with Ospreys will end.
Earlier there was news that Abercrave born Jones will join any French club and will end its life long relationship with Ospreys, as many Ospreys players are looking to contract with French clubs, who are offering them better remunerations.
Fly-half James Hook has already announced that the current season will be his last season with the Ospreys, as he will play for a French club from the next season. Another French club is also looking for the services of Lee Byrne. All Blacks’ flankers Jincluding
Jerry Collins and Marty Holah's stay with the club is also doubtful.
But one of the world’s best tight-head props, Adam Jones, who was talking to the media last night, made it clear that he has no intention to leave Liberty Stadium. He said he knows that French clubs offer more money and that is why many players have moved
or are planning to move from Welsh clubs.
He also talked about James Hook and said he does not blame him as everybody needs money and he would have done the same if he thought it was better.
“It is always hard to lose a world-class player and also a mate. He has been here since he was a kid, when we all saw something special. But when that amount of money is thrown at you, then I don’t blame him at all. He’s got a young family to think about.”
Jones has huge demand from other clubs on better remuneration, especially after his marvellous performance for British and Irish Lions on their last year’s tour of South Africa, but Jones does not think that this is the right time to move from Ospreys.
“My stock went up, but it wasn’t the right time for me to go, so I dedicated the next three years because I also thought we were on the verge of something special as a team.”
Twenty-nine-year-old Adam Jones, who has represented Wales in 64 international test matches, has played 86 matches for his club Ospreys in his 7 years long association with them and he has also scored 10 points for them.
Jones’ decision to not join any other club shows his loyalty with his club and also shows that how serious he is about his game. Jones’ confirmation is also a big relief for the Ospreys, who have already missed few players.
