Rugby fits the game too well, it could of happened at Lydney (wimpy sounding) or Chepstow - for example.

  1. the name rugby only fits the game well because that is all you have ever known.

e.g. - the word cheese fits cheese so well because that is the way that it is, if chesse was called vanilla slice it wouldn't sound so clever.

  2. Of course

A to the ball thing, it makes it move differently on the ground, ie does not roll like a football.  Also the fact that the ball is passed, it makes it more pliable in the air and can give better direction (look up aerodynamics of the football)

  3. They changed the shape so Rugby Players didn't look so poofy like soccer players.  Have you seen those f**s dive around like fairies with a round ball, im bloody glad we don't use that poofy ball.

  4. Because his teacher said.......

"Ellis, if you don't put that ball down now I'm going to stick it up your !*?@#! "

  5. Yeahh, it was probably shaped like that at the same time someone made the rules for it.

I can't remember the story correctly, but I think about two years after Webb-Ellis picked the ball up and ran etc etc someone sat down and made a game out of it along with the rules. He probably chose the shape of the ball as its easier to pass and to make its bounce unpredictable or something?
