Rugby weight?

hello, im wondering if theres any advice anyone could give me. im 14 and am 6ft 2. i weigh 11st 9 and am of decent build. i used to weigh a lot more (13st 10) and then could smash through players. now my pace has improved but my power has faltered. should i try to put on more weight?

i play lock for the year above in my club and my school.

  1. i'm 14 and weigh 15stone 3lbs. i measure 6'1 and play prop. when i was lighter i was a better ball carrier. i've actually gained too much muscle to smash through people i.e it takes away from my pace and accleration. you don't want to put on too much weight. perform power lifts (1 - 5 reps) and eat a lot of food, particularly protein.take some nlarge supplement if you're really desperate. most importantly eat every 3 hours to keep your blood sugar levels up. make sure you consume a lot of calories. stop this training once you gain about 10ilbs or you'll lose too much pace


  2. hey i would start doing weights. This will improve your muscles making you stronger and will put some weight on as well? hope that helps

  3. Speak to a physical trainer about diet and weights training.  Speed is something great to develop - and remember at 14 you are still growing and developing - so speak to someone about doing it right.
