can anyone explain why the world cup match between france and new zealand was held in cardiff when the world cup is currently in france???

Welsh folks detest the english and voted for the french to take the cup to paris too spite them....france offered the welsh a few games, the welsh turned them down initially and told the french they could have the world cup for nothing, as spite "ing" the english is reward enough "thankew very much"..

The french laughed and said "hey but you can really rub the english noses in it - if you have matches in cardiff.....better still if we give the scots some games too - it will look like everyone hates the english..

They all then sat around laughing and didn't stop for four days.

Ireland tried to get in on the act but their stadium is being rebuilt...but they also laughed....for a week.

It was a deal.  The Frogs promised games in Cardiff and Edinburgh in exchange for Wales and Scotland voting to hold the WRC in France.

The Welsh and the Scottish voted for France to host the RWC in return for some games to be played in Wales and Scotland!

It is common practise for countries to do this when there is a big event, in any sport,  if they cannot host all the games due to lack of stadiums.

France won by 6 clear votes to host the RWC!!

France doesn't have enough big stadiums of it's own so some where passed to the Millenium Stadium and Murrayfiled. A France vs New Zealand clash wasn't predicted at this stage but I guess it made a fairer contest. The New Zealanders can't claim they only lost because France was on home territory so I it made their victory all the sweeter.
