Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa wins the second stage of the Tour de Suisse 2012
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa of Team Movistar succeeded during the second stage of the Tour De Suisse and opened his 2012 winning account.
The cyclist had a few near misses in the earlier part of the season but finally managed to find his winning ways at the Swiss race.
He restricted the race favourites and made it through to the top podium spot during the 218.3 kilometre race.
The cyclist completed the race between Verbania to Verbier in a quickest time of 6 hours, 21 minutes and 13 seconds and stopped Frank Schleck from securing his first win of the 2012 season.
Nevertheless, Frank managed to occupy the second podium position, finishing 4 seconds behind Rui with Mikel Nieve Ituralde finishing further 8 seconds behind at the third position.
Giampaolo Caruso of Team Katusha and Thibaut Pinot of Team FDJ-Big Mat claimed the fourth and the fifth position after the race.
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale succeeded during the first and the second sprint of the race.
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa bagged a maximum number of 15 UCI points with Frank Schleck and Mikel Nieve Ituralde holding the second and the third positions.
Ryan Anderson of Team Spidertech Powered By C10 and Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack-Nissan succeeded during the first and the second mountain of the race.
Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa has now jumped up to the first overall spot after the stage 2 classifications with Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack-Nissan eight seconds behind at the second position.
Roman Kreuziger of Tem Astana, Thibaut Pinot of Team FDJ-Big Mat and Nicolas Roche of Team AG2R La Mondiale grabbed the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
