Ruler Of The World eyeing Irish Derby – Horseracing News
Ruler Of The World, winner of the Epsom Classic, might now head to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, which is scheduled to take place at the end of June. Some of his other stable mates are also being prepared for the all important
event.
According to trainer Aidan O'Brien, “Ruler Of The World, Battle Of Marengo, Mars and the other two colts we ran at Epsom all came out of the race well and the Irish Derby would look the obvious race for most of them although we
won't be making final decisions until closer to the race.”
He went onto say that the owners have decided to run their stallions in different races according to the age group they fall in. The veteran trainer added, “We'll probably split the two year olds up between different races although
Sir John Hawkins could join Stubbs in the Coventry.”
It will be interesting to see how Ruler Of The World goes in the Irish Derby. He will certainly be the favourite to succeed in that event, as he seems to be in sublime form at the moment. He was a bit lucky to win at Epsom, as
his main rival Dawn Approach suffered a problem in the opening phases of the race and failed to fight at the front.
However, one cannot take any credit away from the three-year-old colt, who has made his team proud on several occasions. He has appeared in a total of three races until now and is yet to be defeated.
He is likely to be partnered by Ryan Moore, who has been accompanying him for the past two races. The pair has enjoyed some luck together, which has helped them get the attention of the punters regularly.
Moore has got a very good strike rate, when it comes to riding three-year-olds. He has ridden quite a few stallions to glory and knows how to handle pressure at the highest level. This season has been a very good one for him, as
he has succeeded in some top class competitions.
However, the decision is up to Ruler Of The World’s camp, as they have not yet finalised their line up for the Irish Derby.
