Hi there,

I'm doing an essay type thing on swimming and i've got to include the rules and regulations of swimming. Now I know there's not any rules on just normal swimming. But I know there must be some rules for Championship swimmers or something? So if you could find any rules that are used for 'Championship swimmers, that would be great!!

Many thanks

  1. Duh. You pretty stupid.

  2. First source USA Swimming rules (US club swimming)

Second source National Federation of High School rules (US High School)

Third is the US Masters/FINA (world) rule book.

For the most part the rules are the same, but there are minor differences.

  3. Never swim for at least an hour after you eat.

Nothing will happen to you, your mother will just throw a hissy fit.

  4. I have been in the Pacific Coast Junior Olympics (I'm 12) and there are many rules.

    1. You must hold a USA Swimming Card

    2. You must qualify for the JO times

    3. Yiou must be under 14

  5. Do you mean what swimmers should do and not do? It depends really on what stroke you are going to swim, but generally never jump when the starting pistol isn't  shot and always make sure that you touch the wall either in finishing or tumble turning.

  6. Rule 1 ..No petting!

    Rule 2.. No Pissin

    Rule 3... No shittin
