Rules for owning a pot bellied pig in california?

i really would like to own a pig . my mom said i could if we had enough land. please help me with info on rules for keeping a pig as a pet

Call Animal Control in your city and ask them.

Then call the County Zoning office and ask them. County rules can be different from city rules.

When you call, ask for the code or ordinance number and get their name. Ask if they are an employee or a volunteer.

Some counties have their rules posted online.

* Spaying or neutering the animal by two months of age, and removing, cutting or filing tusks of a male pig;

* Vaccinations;

* Limiting a pig’s size to no more than 200 pounds and no higher than 20 inches and no longer than 40 inches;

* Restraining a pig with a leash when off the residential property and;

* Keeping a pig at least 50 feet from a neighboring residential property.
