Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted that his side and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468.
The Bavarian giants have shown interest in the signing Athletic Bilbao’s Javi Martinez this summer but the Spanish side’s over the top transfer price has been an obstacle in the move. The Basques want Bayern to sign the player
for a whopping 40 million Euros, which is the midfielder’s buy-out clause.
However, the Reds have been firm on their stance as they are not willing to pay astonishingly for the young Spanish international. The club is in need of a defensive midfielder and were the favourites to sign Martinez but the transfer
price has diverted the German side’s interest to Real Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 reportedly.
Rummenigge admitted that it is highly unlikely that the transfer occurs. He insisted that Josu Urrutia, Athletic Bilbao’s president, does not want to sell the player at any price below the release clause. The chief is not keen
to spend heavily for a young player and is weighing other options.
“I'm not optimistic, to be honest. [Athletic's] president [Josu Urrutia] has always emphasised that he doesn't want to sell the player for a price under the clause. That's an amount of money that hasn't existed in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 before,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former Bayern Munich player denied reports that Barcelona are close to signing the player. He claimed that he has good relations with the Catalan club and the former European champions are also not prepared
to reach the clause.
“There is no club in Europe that is willing to pay that price. I have a good relationship with Barcelona, and Barcelona aren't prepared to do so. You have to see the whole transfer business very rationally. There are some players
who are worth it, but not many in this world,” he concluded.
The Bavarians have been busy in this summer’s transfer market and have signed the likes of Mario Mandzukic, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 to strengthen the squad for next season.
