The Bayern Munich chairman believes that the current German team is at par with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 team of the 1970’s and need luck to win major trophies.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hailed the current Die Mannschaft side and insisted that the team stands at par with the ‘greatest’ Dutch side of the 70’s. He stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 had a sensational 2011 as they were unbeaten and admitted
that they only need some luck.
The Chairman mentioned that Joachim Low’s side are currently playing like champions, which is what the famous Dutch side did three decades back. However, he opined that it won’t be a straight forward task for them to lift a major
trophy such as the upcoming European championships as there is immense competition from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and Netherlands.
He insisted that the Dutch team also had the habit of winning successive games, and as a result, qualified for two consecutive FIFA World Cup finals, but finished runners-up as they were luckless.
While taking to sports website, Bild.com, the Chairman further added:
"They remind me a little bit of the Netherlands. They have always played beautiful, and in the end, went out in beauty. To win a great title, you always need a bit of luck."
Rummenigge also showered praise on Bayern’s fiercest title rivals, Borussia Dortmund. He mentioned that the Borussians have done a great http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 and
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364.
He opined that the Black Yellows will come out to be a huge force in the coming years, and will give tough time to Bayern this season.
"After their near-bankruptcy, they have done a very good job. Dortmund have to be reckoned with in the next few years. They will try to chip away at us for sure. Schalke will also do the same,"
Rummenigge concluded.
Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga standings due to a superior goal difference over Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. Last year’s relegation contenders, Borussia Monchengladbach, are not far behind the Bavarian giants as
one point separates the fourth placed Foals from the top spot.
