Bayern Munich CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, insisted that his side will not sign another defender after injury blows to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Alaba-c10416 and Rafinha.
The Bavarian giants suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in a friendly game at the Municipal Stadium in Arco, Trentino on Friday, July 20. Apart from the defeat, the Munich based side was struck with injury concerns as David
Alaba and Rafinha sustained long-term blows and will be out for weeks.
There were reports that the German giants were considering another addition to the squad in this summer’s transfer window. If rumours were to be believed, Bayern were tracking another full-back as back-up for the duo before the
start of the season.
However, Rummenigge rubbished any such claims and insisted that the club do not need any more players. He admitted that Alaba and Rafinha have suffered injuries and could possibly miss the start of the season, but remains confident
that the duo will recover just in time.
“We will not bring in any near players at full-back. Neither Alaba nor Rafinha will be out for so long that they will not be back when the season starts. A transfer would be idiotic,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, president Uli Hoeness is excited ahead of the club’s tour of China. He admitted that the country has a huge fan base and Bayern would love to explore that. The chief stated that although football is the second
favourite sport in the country after Basketball, there is still immense craze for the game amongst people.
“We're representing German football in a country with huge potential for the future. The trip is a further step in building Bayern's global profile. In the most populous country on earth with its 1.3 billion inhabitants, football
is the second favourite sport, but it is catching up fast on leading discipline basketball,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will begin their Tour of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 to prepare for the start
of the new season.
