Question:

Rumors about De La Hoya vs Pacquiao Continue.?

Pacquiao said he wants $30-$40 million to fight De La Hoya

NO LESS.

Pacquiao also said that Oscar's height and reach won't be too much advantage and that Mexicans want to get back at him.

The fight will supposedly be at 147.

If the fight was to happen, will it break PPV records?

Who wouldn't pay to see it?

Who will win?

  1. DelaHoya all da way!

yeh id be keen as to watch it

  2. If the fight happens Oscar will destroy Pacquiao , thats too much weight for him to carry and oscar is too skilled for him. I think there would pretty d**n good chance of it breaking ppv records. I would defintly pay to see it but would be shocked if oscar lost to him. As far as pacmans demands no way in h**l he would get paid that much, so if hes not willing to accept less it wont happen and hes got some nerve to demand that kind of money, nobody has ever been paid 30 mil + for any fight.

  3. after Floyd softens up Oscar he will be easy prey for Pacman

  4. Mayweather may beat De La Hoya by a boring decision, but I don't see him softening up anybody.

I think if the fight happens, it will set PPV records. I will be one person interested in seeing this fight. De La Hoya will be too much for Pacquiao, and I see Manny going down in the 9th.

I'm really hoping to see this fight. I like toe to toe action, and these are two guys that are willing to go toe to toe.

  5. Manny wants that paycheck, not Oscar.  I don't expect that this fight will happen, Oscar is a couple weight classed above Manny, and the size difference would make it unlikely.  Still, it would be an interesting twist.  I don't think Pacquaio's power would faze Oscar.  DeLa Hoya would win this one easily.

  6. Firstly, Manny will have to get real about the financial situation.  There is no way that he is going to get $30-$40 million, unless Oscar gets way more.  Even Floyd did not earn that much money for fighting Oscar.

If Manny is saying that Mexicans want to get back at him, then that means one thing- HE is calling out more Mexicans, not the other way around.  He has already beaten all of the ones around his weight class, and now he wants to fight the biggest opponent of his career (size-wize and popularity-wise).

If it was at 147, then it would obviously favor Oscar, but not by that much because of two reasons: 1. Manny puts on over 20 pounds after the weigh-in, so he would be able to make the weight easily, BUT he has never fought at that weight and been hit by someone as big as Oscar. 2. Even though De La Hoya would probably struggle to get down to 147 at this stage of his career, he would still be much stronger than Pacquiao.  Yes, Oscar did turn pro at 130 pounds, but Manny turned pro at 108- you do the math.

No, I do not think that it will break the record set by De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, which is why I stated that Manny needs to get real about his financial demands if he really wants this fight to happen.  No matter what anybody says, Manny is not as big as Floyd is right now, if you need proof, look at their pay-per view numbers.  Even before fighting Oscar, Floyd was still earning more in PPV than Manny was.  It could POSSIBLY break a record, but they would have to market it to perfection like they did De La Hoya vs. Mayweather.

I would pay to see it.

Oscar would knock Manny out for a very simple reason- he is naturally the bigger man.  I would see it going down as being similar to when Oscar got knocked out by Bernard Hopkins.  A lot of people think that Manny is invincible, but he HAS been knocked out before (earlier in his career) which proves that it CAN happen again.  He almost lost his last fight against a fellow 130 pounder- Juan Manuel Marquez, and he lost his first fight with Erik Morales because Morales was able to back him up and put pressure on him.  If Morales could back Manny up at 130, think of what Oscar would do at 147...  I would not be surprised if this fight happens despite the fact that it is a mismatch because it will generate a lot of interest and money, and it would be a good victory for Oscar to retire off of later this year, even though Manny is so much smaller.

  7. de la hoya will kill pacman. too big..i think would be ridiculous to see this fight.
