Rumours regarding Philadelphia Eagles trading Asante Samuel grow strong – NFL News

The reports around Philadelphia Eagles planning to trade their defensive back, Asante Samuel, have once again gained strong grounds with different reports suggesting on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, that the team management is in contact with different teams
interested in acquiring Samuel.
No official confirmation or denial has come from any of the stakeholders around this development.
Samuel recently returned to the NovaCare Complex to attend the team’s offseason workout programme. Before returning to Philadelphia, the player had heard different reports regarding his transfer, but did not take them seriously.
However, when he was pressed to comment on those reports, he admitted that he was slightly concerned and said:
"Any time your name comes up, of course you're going to pay attention. It's my future. I'm not going to dwell on it or whatever, but I just know the Eagles' main focus is to win a Super Bowl and I think I'm an important part of that, so we'll see how it
goes."
Samuel’s trade rumours are not something new. He has been linked to the transfer reports even before the start of the last National Football League (NFL) regular season.
Those rumours received a support from the team management when it acquired cornerbacks, Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. However, the management did not discuss any intention regarding Samuel’s speculated trade.
The rumours once again began growing weak, but after two or three months, when the season had kicked off, Samuel was reportedly involved in a conflict with the team’s front office.
Samuel criticised the team’s front office and questioned the ability of the team officials to make right decisions. He also said that those people did not know what the sport is all about and went further on to say that the front office personnel considered
the game as fantasy football.
Those comments once again fuelled the speculations of his trade, but, once again, no official word was given by any stakeholders and the management, in particular, stayed away from the controversy.
Now, these reports have once again gained strong grounds, but it is yet to be seen if Samuel will play next season with Eagles or not. His comments indicate that he wants to continue his association, but the final call will be made by the management, which
has not spilled the beans yet.
