I am going to run a 5k on monday.

any tips?how to run my best 5k?

btw i usually run 5miles like 4x a week

  1. You really can't prepare for a race that's less than a week away. You will have to trust your training, and that's the best thing you can do.

    But you can do some little things that might improve your time.

    1. Get a good nights sleep from Saturday - Sunday and from Sunday - Monday. The sleep you get from Sat. - Sun is actually more important than the sleep from Sun-Mon, believe it or not.

    2. "Carboload" - This term has not yet been proven to be true, but many runners do it and it works for them. This is basically eating carbohydrates, more than you normally do....hence the name "carboloading". Foods like pasta, spaghetti and cerals. You should be carboloading during the weekend if your race is on Monday.

    3. Make sure to ice and stretch. If any pains or aches are hurting right now, make sure to ice it and stretch. Don't stretch cold muscles. Get a heating pad, and heat up your muscles first then stretch them. Espically Sunday night, you should feel fresh on Monday.

    4. Make sure you have a good breakfast on the morning of the race. I'm not sure when the race is, but if it's anywhere between 9am-12am. Wake up with enough time to eat a good breakfast. Something like bagle and toast is good. Try to avoid dairy foods (milk, yogart) and avoid acidy foods (orange juice).

    5. Drink lots of water through the next few days and up to your race!!

    6. Don't be too nervous. It's good to be a little nervous, but don't get too nervous, just relax. You run your best when you are relaxed.

  2. First Of all in my opinion wen everyone lines up for the race, start in the back so the "stupid" runners dont pull you out with them. the stupid runners are the ones that start to fast and die and think they will win becasue they started in the front.

    Second Of all focus on passing people. Its a great strategy. You see someone in front of you ease up to them and pass them, then move on to the next, and the next.

    Ay the end of the race KICK IT IN ! if you dont someone will pass you without you even realizing it !!!

  3. first you need to shorten strides and raise knees higher on the hills and drive arms up it saves energy also u want to land on midsole and toe and then push off this also saves energy make sure that u run 1 pace workout today like 800 meters and set the pace ur gonan run u should be brething hard and legs should only slightly burn on long flat stretches and burna  lil more on hills if ur in it to win make sure when ur running downhill that u run fast a lot of people tkae the downhill slow to recover but if u run fast gravity is aiding u down the hill so u will still recover make sure u do not run off ur heels u could roll ur ankle and seriously injure urself try to stay with somebody around the same pace u have and try to help each other out
