Hi...I was just wondering if it is possible to get runner's trots if I am not a long distance runner? I am pretty lazy to exercise but I convinced myself to go for a jog one day and I had this horrible cramp and need to relieve myself in a restroom. I also had nausea. It looks like runner's trots...but is it possible?

  1. Sure, you can get it anytime any place, over shorter or long distances.

Diarrhea is most common in long distance runners, but most any athletic effort can bring it on.

Diet is almost always the major contributing factor.  Minimizing high fat foods, soft drinks and caffeine will help.  Diet drinks and foods with artificial sweeteners can bring it on.

I attached the definitive guide on the world of diarrhea... from the Mayo Clinic.
