I love to train, unfortunately I train no matter what and dont even realise if I am too tired to go and when I should rest. What do you do when you realise you are overtraining?

  1. Oh I know what you mean!!! I've just been bitten by the bug and it's hard not to run.  The only thing that works for me is to have a schedule and make myself stick to it. On the days I don't run I do some resistance training (crunches, push ups, light weights, lunges, squats, resistance bands etc) and on my one day off a week (it's hard!) I do stretching.

I think the way to look at it is you want to be able to keep running and enjoying it - so you have to look after your body.

  2. Try to have a plan somewhat is always good.....but you don't have to keep to it 100%.  Just tell yourself when you think you might be overtraining.......I better stop b/c if I don't I'll get injured and won't be able to run for a long period time frame.  Especially if you have a race you really want to run or do well in.......and if you overtrain you may have to miss it or will perform horribly.  Good Luck training!

  3. there is no way,

    unless you break your legs

or strap yourself in a straight jacket

  4. Run to a set schedule, and keep to small increments in faster times. Work it all out and write it down before-hand. Allow at least a day a week and two weeks a year off.

Warm up with stretching, cool down with walking, run toe to heel not heel to toe downhill and apply salve to your legs regularly.

If I had done all this properly I wouldn't have quit running when my legs seized up during a cross-country competition, and I could hike longer today with undamaged cartilage in my knees.

  5. omg im the same way  ;]

i love it  but i think you should just set goals and s top at your goals. build on a little bit each day  !
