ok so i am only a freshman in high school and im running a c**p load of events! not to mention hard ones! i run 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 4x200 on varsity. In 300m hurdles and 4x200 i am good at it. but in 100m hurdles, i get really scared and intimidated by all the girls who ran this for like 6 years! i know i can beat them but my mind isnt following! what do i do to make my self feel a little better? (by the way i have my last meet tomorrow and the suggestion has to be something i can do in 1 day.) thanks so much! thanks to you...i might get my first medal for that race... as a freshman!

  1. Ahh I remember feeling like this. I just ran at states last year for the 4 by 100m. No offence to anyone who reads this pls. I was the only white kid running in a sprint race. I got laughed at when I walked on the track by all the fans and even some of the runners. I was half the size of all of them. Im a little guy lol. You have to learn to block them out. Get into a zone. Dont look around. Get into your lane and look straight ahead down teh track. Focus on what you have to do. Set up your blocks, stand behind them and wait. Keep looking down the track. Act like its just you running the race. When you get into th blocks, keep your head down and just think "lets do this." Once that gun goes off, blast out of the block and run your heart out. Show them what your made of. So next year, they can say oh no, its that fast girl from last year. My coach bet everyone in the stands I would win off the line. Lets just say I got my 2nd leg such a big lead that we won by 4 seconds. If you lose you lose. You cant expect to win every race. But you can always run your heart out to make it your best.
