  1. Ok first of all don't be worried.  Most people who are in fairly good shape can run a mile in about 7-7 1/2 minutes or less.  So you figure about 15 minutes for two miles plus like 1 or 2 more minutes since you're going to be getting tired.  You should be able to do 2 miles easily in 16 or 17 minutes.  Also, when I get a cramp I try to run it out.  That's what usually works for me, and yes I know that it's gonna hurt.  You can also try holding the area that hurts while you run (although it looks funny, haha) or you can say ok, i'm gonna walk for 5 steps and then start running again, just so that it won't hurt as much but you won't lose too much time walking.  If you get tired, too bad! Make yourself keep going.  You said it was for tryouts (i'm assuming cross country which is what I do) so you need to be able to keep going even when all you wanna do is give up.  Just keep going! Good luck with your tryouts and hope I helped!

  2. 18 minutes? you'll be fine. just relax and keep a good pace and ALWAYS remember to breath. its 18 minutes. we have to get it done in 12 minutes...  :(

  3. if you get a cramp, then breathe in through your nose and out your mouth, and just run it off
