Running Back Route Question?

I Have a question about Half back routes. I know there are holes. Like 1,2,3,4,5. But which is which? SO if the coach tells you to run a 3 hole. Or 3. Which side of the line and which hole is it?

And also. If the play is like Pro Viking 34 Left. What is the halfback doing? I need to know how to read plays and know which holes are which.

I am a high school coach and been around. Like the first guy said almost always odd number left side,even right. Your play "PRO Viking 34 left" is terminology used by your coaching staff and we have no clue who does what unless we know your offense. I will assume the "pro" part is the formation"Pro formation" "Viking" could be blocking assignments. the 3 in "34" could be the hole which should be off tackle play and 4 might be the back. I will assume you are running the Double wing or wing T. Next time ask ur coach. Us coaches dont mind questions we do mind when someone makes a mistake becuase they never asked.
