Hi

I run 2/3 times per week, during the week i do 1 mile, and weekend i do 3 miles on sundays, however, for the last 2 weeks i have increased to 4 miles on sundays, and whilst ipace myself my head feels light afterwards, and during the 4th mile, and i feel my breadthing getting shallow, why is this?

I started long ditsance running again as my knee is getting better, and i run on grass anyway to keep the impact as low as possible.

I dont understand the oxygen to head, today its monday and my head feels light with less oxygen from yesterdays run.

I am not unfit, i also do circuit training 1/2 time sper week, and boxing once a week, also.

Why is the running doing this?

I know i felt better last week when i ate 3 hours beofre my run, this week i had a late lunch at 3 and ran at 5, i think i dont leave enough space for air, what do you think?

thanks in advance

  1. It could be the heat, or lack of hydration.

  2. If you feel lightheaded at any point during your run, you are overtaxing your heart and circulatory system.  Slow down when this happens.  Also, if you eat too much food too close to your run, some of your blood supply is used for digestion and therefore less is available for your muscles and brain.

  3. It could have something to do with your breathing when you run.
