  1. I would not suggest getting any pair of nike running shoes. I have been running competitively for the past 15 years and I hate nike running shoes. They are great for basketball and style, but horrible for running. Many other runners will agree. IF you want a good shoe that you can put a lot of miles on I would suggest the Asics 2130's, they are a nice solid shoe, very comfortable and not too expensive for a very nice running shoe.I hope you enjoy running and good luck finding your shoe!

  2. Excellent answers so far...

I avoid Nike running shoes like the plague.  I run marathons, and New Balance works for me, but...

You really should visit a running store and have them measure you, and watch you run.  If you are on budget... tell them.  Stores often carried discontinued editions of popular shoes, at steep discounts.

You need to be in the proper shoe for your foot strike pattern.  Just picking a shoe in a sporting good store works for some people, but it is worth going the extra mile, so to speak.

You probably should be suspicious of shoes under $50-60 unless they are an old model...

  3. The most important property of running shoes is their type.  Neutral/Cushioning, Stability, or Motion Control.  Neutral Shoes are for people with supination or who have a "neutral" foot strike.  Stability is for people with a slight overpronation, and Motion Control is severe overpronation.  Very flat feet tend towards severe overpronation and high arched feet tend toward a neutral fit.  All specialty running shoes are classified under one of these 3 types.  There are various self tests which can be found on the internet, but if you are going to be running for awhile, it would be best to be fitted by a specialty running store.  They do this free of charge and is standard.

Don't be too concerned with the price.  A new pair of shoes only cost $80 but a new pair of knees when your 50 is much greater.  Specialty running shoes last about 500 miles.  Your general running shoe found at your local athletic store only lasts about 200 miles.  For general runners this is enough, but if you are going to be running 40 miles a week, it would be wise to get fitted now.  Getting a proper shoe will also help prevent injury.

I am currently running anywhere from 60-70 miles a week and have remained injury free.

    Hope this helps.

  4. i would say just go down to chicks or a running store and go buy training shoes and for running a lot of miles you want to get a shoe that has a lot of support for your foot. but otherwise it doesnt matter what type of shoe. just get a shoe thats comfortable for u and thats cheap.
