Running/Jogging question?

In preparation for joining our military, I've been running 2 miles per day, everyday. But I've noticed that I haven't been making any progress; i.e., the 2 mile run never feels any easier, nor do my legs feel any stronger. Also, I'm getting plenty of calories, protein, and rest. So what in the WORLD could be wrong? Please help.

  1. you're probably getting too much calories. ir you don't use up all of your calories the left overs turn into fat and prevents you from increasing your muscle strength.

  2. 2 miles every day is a great start.......need to mix it up, and don't be afraid to take a day off.  Take one day each week and try a bit farther maybe 3.5 to 4 miles.  Then one day just do a mile or so but go all out (warm-up first).  Do some weight training with your legs (calves, hamstrings, quads.)  this will make your running easier and stronger.  How much fat your carrying could be an issue?? don't know....I'm a runner who often finds the 1st mile the most difficult....but once I get going I'm good for many more.  Good luck, hope this helped.

  3. Interval training is great for getting fit. Every few days break your running up with sprints/jogs.

  4. Squats and lunges, trust me do them now, you will be doing a lot of them in Basic. Interval training is also good, but you need to run more than to miles, because you will always run longer than 2 miles on your running days. Except of course on days you take the PT test, those days will feel like a break, trust me 2 miles will  feel like a short run! Good luck!
