Running Long Distances??

OK, well...I want to get into shape for ice hockey this summer, and I know that runnning is the best way to build endurance...the thing is that I get SO bored when I run for a long time...I dont like running with an Ipod...any suggestions on how I can occupy myself so I dont think about how tired or how much longer have to run anymore??

  1. Running is okay to build endurance, but you can do other things too.  Try crossfit.  www.crossfit.com.

  4. Read something before you start.. A book of Ice hockey strategy, Artof War, whatever.. Think about wht you've read as you run. Amazing the stuff you can think of when you get into that long loping stride..

  5. I am a bit of a math geek so what i do sometimes is math problems.  Like okay I am running a 3200 and I am up to the 300 mark 300/3200 simplified as a fraction is ?/?  and as a percent it is ?%

    You could also just focus a lot on your breathing.  Sometimes a make like a whole rhythm.

  6. maby think about things like the universe, food, ect. it will take your mind off of it.also you could have one of your friends run with you.

    My best friend plays ice hockey and he has the choice to run or cycle. So if you can ride a bike why don't you cycle insted of running or you can just run with a friend and talk at the same time :)
