Question:

Running Partners are pathetic?

I am trying to do XC next year, for the first time, and I have been running with my friends who said they will try it also. But, everytime we go out for a run they end up walking after 30 seconds...it is starting to get annoying because they show no drive. They tell me I can keep going ahead of them so yesterday I ran ahead and they came walking to my house about 50 minutes after I was done asking for drinks and they were mad at me for going ahead. Today, we walked the entire way there and back ( about 5 miles) should I ditch them and run by myself?...oh and today one of the guys said he was even gonna do XC anymore but he was going to do Long Distance Track in the spring instead...I always feel like I'm twisting their arms to get them to even jog but yet and still they always call me in the morning to see if we are running ( they are treating it like a hang out session when I really want to run).

Thanks, and sorry that it is way too long.

  1. Yes, just go run by yourself or find people that are actually commited to the sport. I have had this same problem and the only solution is to either ditch them or get dragged down by them.

  2. yeah, just run by yourself.

  3. Yes, you should ditch them. They aren't helping you at all. Walking 5 miles is really not going to do you much good. You need to start running, not walking. Maybe you can go for a run by yourself first and just hang out with them afterwards.

  4. yes, you're running partners are pathetic

ditch the friends and invest in a iPod/MP3 player

it will give you added incentive and help you run faster/longer instead of dragging you down like your so-called "friends"

  5. running by yourself will be much better. I happen to hate running alone and I feel that if you have a good runner or even a better running than yourself you will push yourself much harder.

    Good luck
