Running Question: Should I run at a cadence of 90 from the very beginning?

I'm going back to running from tomorrow.

They say the optimum running pace is 90 (or 180 steps per minute.)

I'm going to start by run/walking at intervals...and then eventually work my way to running 1 hour continuosly over about 12 weeks.

Should I run at 180 steps per minute from the very beginning? Or leave it for later?

  1. Well, I don't see where you're coming from "I'm going back to running from tomorrow", but if you used to run and are starting again, start at 75 and work up if you're 25+ years old. If not, go from 80-85.

  2. I always start out slow with longer steps but it depends on the hilliness of where Im running
