What should you do before every gr8 running event or evan just going out jogging. I want to be able to run a lot/gr8 distances...so what are your tips.

  1. Take you some water


  2. Eat a banana and a tbsp of honey abt 30 minutes before you workout. It's a great energy booster!

  3. Stretch really well after running on the spot for 2 minutes or something. Don't eat or drink too much beforehand so that you don't get a stitch but bring water or an energy drink with you. Build up the distance slowly.

  4. eat a peanut butter sandwich, stretch/warm-up, and practice breathing in through your mouth  and out your nose.

  5. ALWAYS - watch what you eat.  Less red meat, for instance



    Run the same time every day, and make it your priority for that time

    Get your mind ready to run - the mind is the most important element in distance running

    Set a realistic goal and run a realistic speed to make your distance

    Get the right shoes.  In the USMC we ran 5 miles daily in combat boots, so it can be done - but it's better for your knees if you have good running shoes

    Listen to your body - if you feel joint pain, find out why its there.

      

    Learn to breath with discipline while running



    Run where traffic isn't a problem

    Good luck - I ran 35 years before a car accident ruined a knee.   I miss it.
