  1. Hi, running a bar in the UK is relatively cheap but that depends on what sort of bar you want ie themed bar, country pub, bar plus food, tavern, etc...

Local bars and pubs have different things that make them attractive to the public. We use 'guest beers' as a way of attracting buisness. By guest beers i mean new types of ales and beers that are promotional and low in cost.

My weekly profit can vary from £2000 to £4200 per week, but that's because we are very busy and have a prime location on the high street. We have regular buisness that has been established over many many years. We also serve food which is very popular. We are also affiliated with a brewery which means we can get beer at a low price and sell it at a higher price which allows us maximum profit.

As far as costs go, that very much depends once again on what sort of establishment you wish to run. You need to sit down and think of that before anyone can give you an answer as to 'how much it would cost to run a bar'. I'd be happy to offer more advice if you could be more specific on what sort of place you want to run.

    I wish you luck.

  2. running a bar as a manager is totally different than being a tenant, a manager gets a wage every week/month from the brewery so if you only take £1,000 a week then £5,000 the next you will still get the same wage. If you want to buy a tenancy which will cost you on average £40,000 you have to pay all the bills, beer, rent etc, and if you have anything left then its yours, we pay £70,000 a year rent £1,300 a month for sky sports, £800 a month water rates, £1,200 a month rates, £11,000 a month average beer not including spirits then there is the gas electric phone soft drinks glass recycling seperate rates for living accom, £1,500 wages, we have to clear £8,500 a week to scrape a living. Ours is only a village pub. Hope this helps
