Running a faster mile?

Is it possible to take off 1:30min off my mile time in 5months?

  1. It depends on what your time is now.

    Run longer distances to become a faster sprinter.

That is dependent upon how fast you run it now.  If you currently run a mile in the 6-7 min range then dropping 1:30 off that its not reasonable.  If you run in the 7-8 minute range then if you train extremely hard it might be, but not likely more likely to drop about a minute off of that.  If you are in the 8+ range then I think it is possible.  

    Train hard, make sure you have good shoes, a don't just run, try other activities like swimming on your non-running days.  

    Good luck a minute and half is an attainable goal for most people in 5 months.
