Ok, so I joined Cross-country for the first time a couple days ago and they didnt give me any tips on what to eat or drink or what not to eat and drink. So I was just wondering what I should do.... Should I eat bananas or something more often?

  1. Good for you for joining the XC team. Bananas are very good for runners. Nuts, or any types of fruits are also good foods for a runner.

This website has tons of info reguarding food for runners. Awesome site.

  2. Before you go to practice eat something simple and light and hydrate yourself, but you want to eat and drink 45-60 minutes before you start running because your body needs to digest the food. Fruit is always great because it is light and it also hydrates your body. Try watermelon, grapes, plums, etc. Bananas are for after running, they are more heavy. Also try to really cut back on you sodium intake, meaning no soda. Whatever you do, don't have a big break feast before running, unless you want to be running to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

  3. Just eat Healthy, sugar is bad, fruits and veggies are good.

*Be careful with eating fish or shellfish the night before a race.

*You are what you eat. Eat bananas and nuts

*Drink ice water and lemon, it clears out the junk in your legs.

*Hard Boiled eggs are good for you, they are condensed chicken dinners.

*Power Bars are not Power bars.

    *Cheese is for mice.

    *Crackers are good before races.

*Never eat Reese's peanut butter cups before the race.

*Eat lots and lots of fruit

*White Castles are not good for you,but mixed with running they are a great challenge.

*Peanut Butter and Honey are good to eat 2.5 hours before a race. Be careful with lunchmeat.

    *Eat Breakfast.

*The Ca"FAT"eria is bad. Bringing your own sack lunch to school is a better idea.

*Order a pizza and race the delivery man to your house. You have to run though...

All taken from a very wise man by the name of Tom Carney. He can be annoying, but in the end of the day, he really knows what he's talking about.

  4. eat...fruits, vegtables, whole grains, nutes, otameal, baked potatoes, brocolli, pasta, rice, low-fat yogurt, berries

stay aways from sugar, white bread, chips, whole milk, mayo, red meat, chocolate, butter, cheese

    hope it helps

  5. bananas are the best thing to eat after running... the potassium helps cut down on sore muscles.  as far as eating meals goes - protein and carbs are always good, cut out as much sugar as sweats as you can... to drink - try cutting soda or sugar out.. water, juice and the occasional sports drink are ok... good luck cross country is a great sport physically and mentally

  6. Bill Rogers, famous marathon runner once said that he won the Boston Marathon with a diet of beer and ho-hos. The trick is eat three meals, snack when you are hungry, listen to your body. If you really want to be a champ always run one mile more than anyone else on your team. More miles will take you further than more bannanas.
