Running and heart rate?

For some reason when I run at 4 miles per hour my heart rate reaches 170. I'm only 27 and my "target" heart range is 165. Please advise me. Thanks

  1. Don't panic, your heart rate can vary when your running.  If it reads 170, then you need to slow it down a wee bit to hit your target heart rate of 165 (you were only 5 beats off and most likely within your HR zone).

    I run comfortably hard at 170, and hard at 185...it varies from person to person.
