Question:

Running at night?

It's too hot to run during the day so I want to stat running at night. The only problem with that is that I have neighbors who let their dogs roam around the neighborhood at night. Should I be worried or just go for it?

By the way, I hate dogs!

  1. Go for it, you'll be fine.

  2. Dogs sometimes bite. Bugs sometimes bite. Worst of all, people sometimes bite. These scenarios become much more prevalent during the evening hours, so be careful. Also. remember that many rodents, those carrying rabies, are often nocturnal, and you don't want to be bitten by one of them.

You should be extremely worried, as running outside can be extremely, terribly life-threatening. Those dogs are probably real scary---and mean. They might bite. I would never risk it.

  3. You can also run first thing in the morning.

Just remember if you're running and encounter dogs they tend to figure you're either play or prey. At least for me, that tends to mean I stop entirely and stand there as boring as possible if a dog starts chasing after me. They seem to lose interest rapidly if I stop moving, and they can't figure out what to make of me.

You might want to carry a little thing of pepper spray depending on where exactly you're running and how late you're running (more for scary humans than scary dogs). Reflective clothing and ID (like RoadID) can be a lot more important at night, too.
