Running back Chris Johnson hopeful to return for Titans’ next game – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans on Wednesday said that they hoped to have their running back Chris Johnson back to their side in their next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Saturday.
However, they might not be able to survive their chances for a wild card to make it to playoff this season. The side is outscored by the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots
on the league’s points table.
Their loss to previously winless Indianapolis Colts last Sunday forced them out on the edge of their wild card race. Their divisional rivals the Houston Texans have already claimed the American Football Conference (AFC) south title
and made it to playoff. It is a rare chance for the Titans to hope for the wild card berth into playoff.
According to the team management absence of their key players made it difficult for them to stage a victory over the Colts.
They now expect that the return of Chris Johnson will boost their squad strength and probably their chances for a win.
Chris Johnson who was earlier thought to have suffered a season-ending injury now hopes to recover timely to play their next game.
"It's pretty sore," Johnson said on Tuesday. "I haven't ran on it or anything. ... But after the game trying to walk on it, I was limping really bad. Yesterday I was limping really bad. I had to shoot a commercial yesterday and
I couldn't really walk that much on it. I'm doing much better today."
Johnson has managed to perform reasonably well inspite of facing the injuries problems. He has missed almost half of the season due to injuries. The player was also out of the Titans for whole preseason. His worst start since signing
of a $53.3 million extension.
Still he is well on the course to achieve 1000 yards rushing this season. He needs only 70 yards to reach the mark. It might have not looked easier and achievable at start of the season.
"Of course, any running back wants over 1,000 yards," Johnson said. "That puts you up there in a group with the elite running backs and things like that even though not having the best of years. Still to go 1,000 yards, that's
something a lot of people probably thought wouldn't happen this year."
The Titans have two more games to go before end of the current National Football League (NFL) season, and it is to be seen if Chris Johnson is able to reach the 1000 yards mark.
