Running back Ray Rice doubtful against Pittsburgh Steelers
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice is doubtful for the Ravens' matchup against their division rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stated that an MRI has revealed that Rice's knee has suffered a significant contusion,
putting his inclusion in the lineup for Sunday's week 4 game in question.
It has not yet been specified, and the Ravens have been unwilling to reveal whether Rice injured his left or his right knee.
Rice left the game last week against the Cleveland Browns with just under 10 minutes to go and didn't return.
When asked about whether or not Rice would play against the undefeated Steelers, Harbaugh stated, "We'll see how he fares throughout the week. We'll see how it heals."
Should Rice indeed be out of the lineup Sunday look for running back Willis McGahee to get the start and for fullback Le'Ron McClain to see a few more carries and shoulder some of the load.
"Willis has obviously proven himself; Le'Ron is going to be able to run the ball," Harbaugh said. "We like our running back situation."
Rice has had a decent start to the season carrying the ball for 210 yards, and was one of only two running backs (Tennessee Titan Chris Johnson being the other one) to accumulate over 2,000 yards from scrimmage last season.
"Ray Rice is a good player. We'd sure rather have him," Harbaugh said.
Week 4's matchup between the Ravens and Steelers is pivotal as each team will see the game as an opportunity to seize divisional supremacy.
The Ravens also have the opportunity to take on the Steelers who are still without their starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season. Dennis Dixon and Charlie Batch have shared the starting
quarterback spot for the Steelers in Roethlisberger's absence.
