Running before or after I lift?

For the summer I will be running 25-35 miles or so and I want to incorporate some weight training into my routine. Should I do my weights before or after I run?? Would it make a difference if i would lift weights (upper body) at like noon and then run around 6ish or the other way around?

  1. I would definitely lift first then run.  And this is just my personal experience.  But if I'm tired, there's no way I will want to lift weights.  But I can run all day, tired or not.  I'll run slow, but I can still run.

  2. Whatever you do, Don't lift immediately after you run because a long run works your arms much more than you would realize.

  3. always take about a 20 min break after your workout than lift. I have my runners lift of Mon, Wed, and Fri. after there workouts. On Tues, Thurs, and Sat my runners do there hard workouts.

Running before you lift will get you muscles more warmed up and your body will respond better to the weight lifting.

  4. I have been running then lifting when i was done. But i was tired from my run and never wanted to lift. So i would say lift first.
