  1. is it after you eat, sometimes eating big before exercising causes that. What you can do is to drink more water, and things with more electrolyte. Also, when you run, place both of your hands so that it's almost on your stomach, but it seems to be. So it's like a few inches away from your stomach, but it would be in the same position, and when you run, let your HANDS loose, and shake it while you run to the rhymth of the run. I don't know why it works, but it does for me.

  2. Cramps can be caused by many things. I run and here are a few reasons I get them.

    1) Lack of hydration.

Most people think it takes a long time to dehydrate but really when you are thirsty you are already in medical terms "dehydrated". The average person should drink water frequently throughout the day. For my weight I need to drink 78 oz a day.

    2) Over hydrated.

Again most people don't think this can happen, but what happens when you start running and all that water is just sitting in your stomach? It has to go somewhere which in turn can be very bad for you and your body. Don't over hydrate!

    3) Eating before running.

Very uncommon but it could be a cause. Most people's body react to food differently. I find my body tends to no react very well if I eat before I run. Waiting 30 minutes to an hour after eating can help, but again it's all about your body. Also, sugars are bad before running. Very bad.... STAY AWAY FROM SUGARS!!!

    4) Time of day.

Most people who run in the dead of the afternoon are most likely experiencing heat cramps. These can be very painful and are most commonly found with dehydration cramps. It's better to run early in the morning or in the evening. If running indoors, there can be a lack of circulating air. Make sure were you run is properly ventilated.

And the most common for me and one most people don't realize...

    5) Your breathing.

Believe it or not, the way you breathe while you run can play a big factor in your success and outcome. While most believe the way they breathe is fine, 9 out of 10 times, it is the main cause. The proper breathing should start before you get deep into the exercise, meaning you need to breathe like you would from the first step till the last. The best breathing technique is to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth(almost like your blowing a bubble). It is very difficult to perfect and maintain but with practice, you should be able to at least improve your breathing. I have been running for years and I'm also an athlete and even I have trouble getting my breathing perfect every time but I know that when I don't get it right because I immediately get cramps.

Also, try running first thing in the morning before you eat and drink anything. I find this helps because it taps into your body's storage system and has much better results!

    I hope this helps!!

  3. you need to eat and hydrate two hours before you run giving your stomach time to digest so it's not sitting in there while you run which can cause cramps, and then before you run eat a banana. Trust me. There is a fine line between cramps from overeating and under eating, and what I just told you is from a few years of experiment. And if you get a cramp while running, cough or flex your abs.

  4. Cramps as in like a side ache? If so, drink a bottle of water 2 hours before you run. Do not eat 2 hours before you run. When you get a side ache, it is your liver (or your kidney, can't remember) moving down. All you need to do is stop running, breath in, and push up using your hands.

  5. okay, so i am a varsity volleyball player i know all about this stuff. haha

before you run drink a little bit of water not alot or you will get a cramp dont eat a meal right before going out running. and if you start to get a cramp keep running and think about somthing else and you might forget about it or it might go away.

and something to helo get rid of cramps is to out your hands on your head. trust me it helps.

and drink alot of water when your done. esepacally since its summer:)

good luck! and keep running!! hah.

  6. Cramps are actually caused by water so when you are running and are really thirsty put water in your mouth and then spit it out and you won't have cramps and won't be tired
