  1. Distance running hurts your vertical.  Sprints and 1 mile runs for endurance are fine

  2. it can b/c when you run, it works your quads and calfs. and those are the main mucles that you jump with

  3. Running can decrease your vertical if you are tired, but otherwise it will not unless your legs are sore.  But if you are good at running, that does not decrease your vertical.

  4. Its true.  When you run for long distances your muscles become more of the slow twich type.  It allows your muscles to work hard for longer.  Yet if one doesn't run long distances, and does jumping exercises, one will make the muscles more fast twich and jump higher!

  5. 100 squats a day monday through friday no weights needed take saturday and sunday off to give the muscles time to heal. this will strengthen the vertical jump. no matter if it is standing still or running.

  6. Yes running long distances can cause your muscles to become slow twitch muscles and hurt your vertical power some, unless you are training professionally for volleyball, the impact of running long distances on your vertical will probably be negligible if not actually help your jumping.  The reason is most people have a little extra fat they can get rid of, and running long distances will help get those few pounds off and keep you in better shape, so you won't have as much weight to put in the air plus be in better shape to last longer.  Without any endurance that only long distance running can give you, by the 3rd game you’ll be tired and then your vertical will really suffer.
