  1. Well, it sounds like you can run the distance from what you say - 5km is about a half hours jog, or faster running.

To run round it and not get out of breath you have to go a little slower. A lot of people set off too quickly on a run and get out of breath, then they have to slow down to get their breath back. Now for a 5km run, getting your breath back might take half the run! So set off a little slower and then when you have warmed up after say a mile then you can speed up to a pace that matches your breathing.

If you want to go faster then Im afraid you have to train to go faster.

Try short sprints, run a little way then going along a street sprint between 2 lamp posts and then jog to the next one, then sprint.... this will get your breathing high for a time.

run long distances but at a slow pace (longer than the 5km)

Run up hills, then jog down to recover

Run down hills then jog up to recover (not in the same session as the running up hills session though)

But mostly just go out there and run

  2. Keep running of course. But to increase your lung capacity and strength I recommend running very long distances at a slow pace. The long period of lung use will boost lung endurance greatly.

  3. pace our self run slow..... running to fast at one time causes you to run out of breath. Dont ever just stop running you will have to walk it off. its bad for your heart.

  4. You need to slow down

  5. Practise LOADS - to get more stamina, you practice. When you get to a level where you can run for a set length and not get tired, increase the length and carry on through the tiredness - it'll improve your fitness drastically. Make sure you practise regularly - once a day would be best, and eat healthily, eating foods that release good energy eg. bananas or porridge. Good luck! x

  6. I think you should pace yourself.

Slow down a little when you are feeling out of breath or walk until you recover.

You could carry a rucksack with a little bit of weight to it, add some books or something and practice running with that until you feel that your stamina has increased.

Remember that you can run, jog and walk. Do it at your own pace. Good luck :)
