Running help...? tips and advice?

hey

I'm not a runner at all

i use to run last year for training but i got surgery

i have to get my knee moving

and my physio therapist makes me run for 10 minutes.

after 5 minutes i get REALLY thirsty/ dehydrated

and i feel really tired

how can i improve my performance?

  1. do not close your fists when you run. Most people do it, but it wastes energy. And it isn't necessarily areodynamic though i'm not sure that that would affect anything really.


  2. just keep trying:)  and maybe try intervals between walking and running - that might help you out some.

  3. You really shouldn't be dehydrated or tired after 10 minutes.

    I would also recommend that you start with walking.  When/if you can walk at a fast pace for 20 minutes begin to incorporate a very short run into the walk 30 seconds to a minute.

    Over several weeks increase that until the 20 minute walk becomes a 20 minute jog.

    For fitness alone you don't have to run hard - just raise your heart rate.
