  1. I use a pair of Active Ankle T-2 after getting injured, and they have been very helpful.

  2. Stretch. Pointing your toes down while stepping on the side of the curb helps.

  3. Volleyball shoes don't protect your ankles much like basketball shoes do, get some active ankles, or tape your ankles.

  4. you should probably wear an ankle brace.. because if your ankle is like that you could injure it.. so i would stick wit a ankle brace

  5. no...the only shoes dat support ur ankles wud be bball shoes,...for vball u have to get ankle braces,,cuz any bad fall can hurt ur ankle bad

  6. I bought 90$ shoes and i still had ankle problems. I bought ankle braces for 20$ apiece, and my ankles don't hurt anymore. I would consider ankle braces to avoid injury.

  7. Shoes, whether it's volleyball or basketball, do very little for ankle support. Running shoes, which are popular with volleyball players because of their light weight, offer even less. The only shoes that do anything for ankle support are the very highest high-top basketball shoes, and you don't wanna be playing vball in those!

Ankle braces and ankle taping have its good and bad points. A good brace (Active-Ankle for example) or a good ankle tape job (from someone who knows how to do it correctly) will protect your ankles to a certain extent, though this does not mean you still can't hurt your ankle. The bad part is that if you've worn the braces or the tape everyday for a while (like a month+), the muscles that protect your ankles will actually weaken. That means that if you decide to play a pick-up game and you don't have your braces, or you forget your braces one day, or you don't get your ankles taped, your ankles will actually be weaker than usual.

The best way to make your ankles not tighten up as much is to give them good stretching everyday. Does your team do team stretches? The most effective stretching is some light stretching before the running, and your main stretching after you do your running. Do basic calf stretches (like against the wall) and do some light side to side stretching of your ankles. Just like any other muscle, it'll take a little time for your muscles to build up.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

  8. stretch before you run and after and take long strides so you arent just bending your ankles to run instead of  ur whole leg... if that makes any sense
