  1. trail shoes have more protection and more support because you are running on unsmooth ground but they are a bit heavier

  2. i have a fast, lightweight pair of less stable running shoes, and my still fairly lightweight, stable trail running shoes. i needed trail shoes because i run on trails a lot and i have bad ankles (i badly twisted one a couple months ago, still swollen). but if you are planning on running trails i would recommend getting trail shoes. they might save you a couple weeks of no running :) but the best thing you can do for running on trails is to be alert of where you are stepping at all times and run with good form and flat feet.

  3. If by trail shoes, you mean trail running shoes, the difference is that trail shoes are generally sturdier (offer more support) and have better traction since you are running on poor surfaces.
