  1. running if you can

  2. Running will show results faster, but walking is just as good.

  3. running uses the same muscles as walking and trains additional muscles. Consequently, running gives a more drastic affect on muscle tone and on endurance. However, running is very hard on the knees and if you jump into running too quickly, you will get injured. If you are just starting to exercise, do some intervals where you run for a certain time and then walk for a certain time eventually building yourself where you run nonstop for a given period. And if you run quite a bit, don't be afraid to take an easy day and jog/walk. If there's one thing I've learned from over the years it's that you can't push your body every day, you need to give it breaks.
